The races are open to athletes of all ages and there is no cost or registration required. On Tuesday July 7, the "Colonie Mile" race and the 2nd Annual 2 Person Team Challenge will be held. The 2 Person Team Challenge information is as follows: "Your team must run all six events with each person on your team running three events. The events are 1 mile, 100m, 400m, 800m, 200m, and 2 mile. Team Score =Place Total for all six events where the lowest score wins. Males and females scored separately. Male only teams, female only teams, or male-female teams may compete. Sign up at the track before 6:00pm this Tuesday (7/7/09)."

Section 2 teams are once again expected to be among the top cross country teams in New York State. In a recent girls cross country preview on tullyrunners.com, Saratoga, Shenendehowa, Burnt Hills and Queensbury have been ranked among the top six girls teams in New York State for the upcoming season. In addition, Suburban Council opponents Guilderland and Colonie were listed as other girls teams to watch. On the boys side, Burnt Hills, Shenendehowa, and the young Shaker team are among those receiving attention and pre-season buzz on websites like dyestat. Fayetville-Manlius, from the Syracuse area, is expected to be the team to beat for the NYS title for both the boys and the girls.

Alumni Update: Shaker graduate RJ Sniffen (Class of 2008) recently competed in the Junior Nationals 5K in Oregon. Congratulations RJ!

The cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track records are in the process of being updated over the next few weeks. Stay tuned for updates.
