Sunday May 9, 2010: The Shaker teams continued to add more hardware to their collection this past week. In another exciting week, the Shaker teams competed in both league meets and invitationals. The highlights of the week included the Shaker-Shen Boys matchup in League Meet #4, the 2010 Loucks Games, and the Johnstown Invitational.

The Shaker Boys chose to send several individuals and relay teams down to White Plains last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for the 43rd Glen D. Loucks Games. The Boys DMR got things off to a good start by taking 1st place in the Eastern States Championship DMR on Thursday night despite the windy conditions, earning them the 1,999th trophy in the history of the Loucks Games. The team consisted of Seniors Ryan Egan and Matt Conti along with Junior Dave Marthy and Sophomore Mike Libruk. The team took the podium and was awarded the team trophy along with individual trophies and championship shirts. (See video below) Brian Gallagher hoped to continued Shaker success as he competed in the first two events of the Pentathlon on Friday. After the Hurdles and High Jump portions of the competition, Gallagher was sitting in 4th place overall. Matt Conti also competed in the 800M on Thursday and placed 10th overall with a time of 1:56.49. Conti and Gallagher spent the night in White Plains, preparing for their final events the next day. On Saturday, Brian Gallagher continued his success in the Pentathlon, earning the Long Jump title and propelling himself to a 2nd place finish, beating his own school record with a new total of 3085 points. The Indoor National Champions 4X800M Relay from Shaker consisting of Chris Herman, Matt Conti, Ryan Egan, and Dave Marthy also earned themselves a 2nd place finish in that event. Junior Casey Gilboy also took 7th place in the 3000M Steeplechase while Senior Brendan Dolan captured 5th in the 400M Hurdles. Loucks Games Results / Photo Gallery
