Sunday March 21, 2010: This has been a busy week for the Shaker teams, as they have been preparing for the first Outdoor Track meets of the season. The Shaker Girls will host their first meet two days later on Wednesday, March 31st at 4:00pm. Be sure to check out the 2010 Outdoor Track Page for updated boys and girls schedules throughout the season along with other forms and announcements.

The Shaker Boys Indoor Track Banquet will be held this Wednesday, March 24th at Shaker HS in the Taft Hall Dining Room from 6:00-8:00pm. Come celebrate another successful Indoor Track season. Stay tuned for a list of awards from the banquet to be posted on shakerrunning.com.
The 2010 Outdoor Track Schedules list several exciting meets for both the boys and the girls. Select boys athletes will be competing at Penn Relays, Colonie Relays, and the Loucks Games. The boys will also look to defend their 2009 Outdoor Track Suburban Council and Section 2 Championships. Some of the Shaker girls will also be competing at big meets this season including Nanuet Relays, Penn Relays, and the Colonie Relays.
Spring Sports Information Night is scheduled for Thursday March 25, 2010 at 7PM at Shaker High School. It is mandatory that parents attend this program before athletes can compete.
Times Union All-Stars: Several Shaker athletes were recognized as Winter All-Stars by the Times Union. Shaker All-Stars included Senior Matt Conti 600M, 1600M Relay-Brendan Dolan, Chris Herman, Reuben Feinman, Matt Conti, and 3200M Relay-Dave Marthy, Ryan Egan, Chris Herman, and Matt Conti. In addition to being named a 600M, 1600M Relay, and 3200M Relay All-Star, Matt Conti was named to the Second Team All-Stars for the 300M. Coach Stadtlander was named Coach of the Year for the second year in a row, after leading the boys to yet another Suburban Council and Sectional Title.
Besides their strong athletic performances, the Shaker track teams continued to excel in the classroom. The Shaker Boys team finished 4th in New York State for the Scholar Athlete Indoor Track Award for a top 12 average of 96.88%. The Shaker Girls also had an outstanding 94.726% average.

College Choices: Shaker Senior Matt Conti has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College in Rhode Island this fall.

Shaker athletes were greeted by the Nike East Running Van this past Friday afternoon at practice. Nike representatives talked with the team about new products as well providing a biomechanical analysis for runners. The Nike Van was also seen at Spike Weekend at Fleet Feet Albany by many Shaker runners who prepared for the upcoming season by purchasing their racing spikes at Fleet Feet.
