Sunday January 3, 2010: Both the Shaker Boys and Girls teams easily captured first place at their League Meet on Sunday. While it was League Meet #4, it was the first time this season that most of the boys team was competing in the same meet. Top performances (among first 3 places) for the boys included: Matt Conti and JQ Chandler (1st and 3rd-300M); Sterling Green (1st-High Jump and 3rd-Triple Jump); David Haller (2nd-Triple Jump); Delago, Mellon, Vallecorsa (2nd to 4th-1600M); Carlos Mendez (2nd-Shot Put); Libruk, Egan, Marthy (1st to 3rd-3200M); Reuben Feinman (1st-Long Jump); Brendan Dolan (3rd-55M Hurdles); Darryl Roberts (2nd-55M); Chris Herman (1st-1000M); 4x400M Relay 2nd; 4x800M Relay 2nd; 4x200M Relay 2nd; Brian Gallagher (3rd-Long Jump) Andrew Olsen (3rd-1000M); and Tim Derocher (2nd-Pole Vault). Top three finishes for the girls team included: 4x200M Relay 1st (Madison, Coughlin, Vandenburgh, Brundige); 4x400M and 4x800M Relay 2nd; Vandenburgh (2nd-Triple Jump and 2nd 300M); Crodelle (3rd-Triple Jump); Plue (1st-55M Hurdles); Brundige (2nd-55M Hurdles and 1st 55M); Pawlak (3rd-Shot Put); Burke (2nd-1500M); McCane (1st-High Jump) Madison and Benoit (tie 3rd-High Jump); Ogden (2nd-Long Jump); Coughlin (2nd-600M); Dunn, Nephew, Sheridan (1st to 3rd-1000M). Sunday January 10th: League Meet #5 @ Union 8:30AM
This week the Varsity Boys team (selected athletes only) will travel to Cornell for the Southern Tier Invitational on Saturday, January 9. The Girls team (selected athletes) will travel to New Hampshire for the Dartmouth Relays on Friday & Saturday. The Shaker Boys and Girls teams are also scheduled for League Meet # 5 that begins at 8:30 AM on Sunday, January 10th at Union College in Schenectady. Coaches from both teams will announce entries during the week.

According to Dyestat, the Shaker Boys Distance Medley Relay team (Libruk, Conti, Herman & Egan) is listed as having the second fastest DMR time in the nation so far this season (as of 12/31/09), based on their performance at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic. A video of the Shaker Boys 2nd place finish has been posted (see below).
The Shaker Girls DMR team (Nephew, Risler, Coughlin & Dunn) are currently ranked # 7 in the country after their Marine Corps performance.
