Sunday November 16, 2008: Congratulations to Craig Weiss for being named Athlete of the Week at Shaker High School. The senior has led the team throughout the season and completed his final Cross Country race by competing in the New York State XC Championships on November 8th.
 
*****Important: Shaker Girls and Boys Cross Country Banquet has been postponed and the new date will be posted as soon as it is announced. The cost is $10 per person and checks should be made payable to the “Shaker Booster Club” and returned to Coach Gansle.
 
Reminder from Coach Stadtlander that the Turkey Raffle Run will be held on Sunday, November 23rd at the Crossings (Albany Shaker Road). Day of Race Registration Only beginning at 9:30 AM. The race starts at 10 AM. There is a $2 entry fee or bring a pie, cake, cookies, treat, bread, etc. Run about a mile loop, each time you complete the loop, you receive a raffle ticket and at the end of the run cakes, treats, cookies, and other items are given away through the raffle. You do not need to register in order to participate in the run, however if you choose not to register you cannot be a part of the raffle. Come out and run while having fun!
 
The Troy Turkey Trot will be held Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, November 27th) Complete details here (including online registration). Popular race with Shaker Boys, especially the chance to race with Coach Stadtlander
 
Amazing performance by Section 2 teams in Saturday’s New York State Federation Championships. On the Boys side, Shen finished first, Burnt Hills second and Queensbury fifth. The top four Girls teams were from Section 2: Burnt Hills was first followed by Saratoga, Queensbury and Shen. Class D Greenwich also finished in the top 10. Section 2 Girls Chair Marbry Gansle was quoted in the Times Union, "Section II is just tremendously talented,"  said Coach Gansle. One of the goals for next year’s Shaker Boys and Girls teams will be a return to Feds.
 
Winter Sports Information Night for Parents to be held at Shaker High School on Tuesday night, November 25th. Mandatory program begins at 7 PM. Parents of Boys Indoor Track & Field Team meet in Taft Dining Room. Parents of Girls Indoor Track & Field Team meet in the front auditorium. Optional meeting at 6:30 with Mr. Edward Dopp, Director of Physical Education and Athletics.

First Indoor Track Meet of the 2008-09 season for the Shaker Boys and the Girls teams will be held at Union College at 8:30 AM on Saturday, December 13th.
