Niskayuna Warrior Classic: Shaker Captures Another Invitational Championship with Victory at Warrior Track Classic (4/19/08)

For the second consecutive Saturday, the Shaker Boys team used its talent and depth to win a local Invitational, this time by defeating 11 other teams at the Warrior Track Classic held at Niskayuna HS. The sprinters were again led by Mike McCloskey, who won the 100M, 200M and was part of the winning 4x100M Relay team which also included Bryan Letourneau, Alvin Porter and Prince Abban. Ebube Abara nipped teammate Matt Conti to win the 400M (see video below RJ video). Both of those runners, along with Kyle Sedgwick and Kevin Conti were part of the victorious 4x400M Relay team. R.J. Sniffen provided a victory in the 1500M (see the video below) along with a close 2nd place finish in the 800M. Ryan Sullivan soared to first place in the High Jump while Prince Abban leaped to another win in the Triple Jump. The 4x800M team of Kevin Conti, Chris Herman, Jeff Corelli and Craig Weiss completed the sweep of the relays with a strong performance. Several other team members added points in almost every event to help assure the team title. The Shaker Boys team is off to a great start to the Outdoor season with victories over the first four Suburban Council opponents in league meets along with titles in local Invitational meets the past two weeks. The biggest test so far this season will be in this Tuesday’s league meet at Ballston Spa that will include arch rival Shenendehowa.
