Suburban Council Championships
10/25/08 at Saratoga State Park

The Shaker Boys Varsity team finished third behind Shenendehowa and Burnt Hills in Saturday’s Suburban Council Championships. The team was led by the 9th place finish of Senior Craig Weiss who led a group of young Shaker runners as he has done all season. Sophomore Casey Gilboy ran a big race as he finished in 16th place followed by Junior Eric Young (25th), Freshman Mike Libruk (31st) and Junior Ryan Egan (33rd). The JV team also finished third as the top five scorers all finished in the top 25 and contributed to the effort: Chris Van Zetta, Kyle Foster, Brian McConkey, Dave Marthy and Brian O’Connor. The Frosh team, running without the top five 9th graders who moved up to the longer races on Saturday, were led by 8th graders Caleb Mellon and Adam Schwenzfeier who both completed the Saratoga Frosh Course in times that were in the top five ever run by a Shaker runner.

Bison Charge Ahead
The Girls Varsity, without its top two runners finished 8th as Zosia Dunn and Kate Martel were the top Shaker finishers. The Girls JV finished in a 5th place tie with the top finish by Christine Hall. The Girls Frosh team finished in a tie for second place. Top 25 finishers for the team were Laura Libruk (3rd), Kristen Moras (8th), Faith Risler (15th), Kayleigh Lavender (16th) and Jessica Dzialo (23rd).
