Suffern Invitational 2007 Team Champions

The Shaker Varsity Boy’s team showed why they are ranked #4 in New York State in this week’s polls released on Dyestat and Tullyrunners. Led by R.J. Sniffen’s first place finish, the team scored an easy victory in the Suffern Invitational on September 15th. Craig Weiss was 3rd and Chris Manico 4th as those three continued their strong early season performances. Jeff Corelli (9th) and Devon Sedgwick (17th) also earned individual awards in this year’s first downstate meet. All the Shaker teams were cheered by over two dozen parents who made the two hour drive to Bear Mountain.

The JV Boys team continued its steady improvement with a 4th place finish in the 38 team field. Individual medal winners were Eric Young, Will Shanz, and Matt Conti.

Frosh Boys continued their winning ways with another impressive performance. Shaker actually entered two separate teams of seven runners each. These two Shaker teams actually finished with the 1st and 2nd best team performances of more than 30 teams entered in the Frosh Boys races---14 members of the team received either a 1st or 2nd place medal. The team was again led by a 1-2-3 finish by Mike Libruk, Brian O’Connor and Kyle Foster. Andrew Olson, in his best race so far this season, finished 7th. Also receiving medals were Casey Gilboy, Caleb Mellon, Ryan Recchia, Brian Hickey and Brian Enright.

The Varsity Girls team finished in 4th place with the team’s top runner, Emma Risler, earning an individual medal for her 10th place finish. Another strong performance by the Girl’s J.V. team earned them second place awards. Individual medal winners were Molly Nephew (3), Kate Martel (5), Christine Hall (11), Lee Nazarian (15), Julia McCane (19), and Kari Huneau (22). For the second time in three races, the Frosh Girls were led by 7th grade runner Morgan Wojtusik.
